I have been thinking for awhile now about doing a graffiti wall in a room which I will be living in my room. I definitely can't do it now because of the living situation right now. Temporary. I get a bunch of artistic ideas and don't really know and can't really organize them very well, so I started this blog to start my organization process. Writing them down, getting and looking at pictures, and posting my favorite art at the moment.
I have been thinking about doing this for a long time now and getting some experience in the art of graffiti.
I think the graffiti art world is very intriguing and that it is misinterpreted among those who think that it is done by hooligans. I think that there IS an art to it and that there is some awful graffiti out there just like any other art. What has inspired me to finally start thinking about going and taking action with this idea is an art history course on African American art that I am taking this semester. It is very interesting and quite inspiring. I am really unexpectedly enjoying it. The art so far that we have looked at has been very colorful and bold. Not just with the colors but with the subject matter.
Two artists that we have looked at so far are Fahamu Pecou and Kehinde Wiley.
We just discussed Kehinde Wiley today. Check out his website: kehindewiley.com
Fahamu Pecou I LOVE HIS WORK!! please please please check out his paintings they are amazing. Please read his bio also and any interviews that people have done on him. Chances are you won't read them. But I will say that you may misinterpret it without some background knowledge. He works with paintings, appearances at his shows, and videos.
Here is his website: Fahamupecouart.com
